Champion Beef Builder state group!!! Congratulations Texas kids!!! We would like to give a shout out to Katie June Alexander, Shelby Prazak, Antonio Munoz, and Lauren Bockel for being the Reserve Grand Champion Purebred State Group. They weren’t able to get a picture.
Everyone enjoyed snow ones yesterday at Jr Nationals! Thanks TJBA ambassadors, Lauren, Coy and Aubrey for serving them up.
“As my internship with TBA comes to an end, I would like to thank y’all for this opportunity. I learned so much about the Braunvieh breed over the last 6 months. I’ve met many people who furthered my education and allowed me to get hands on experience with more animals, which is extremely important for a future veterinarian! I made great memories at the state show that I will talk about for years to come. I want to personally thank Dr. Housewright for always believing in me even when I was worried that not having a big Ag background would be an issue. Thank you Clydene for always answering my questions and helping me improve my work, and thanks to Loretta and John for letting me use photos and teaching me so much about Bruanvieh. Thank everyone at TBA for a great time!”
THANK YOU FAMILIES FOR ATTENDING. Empire Imagery photographs are here from the TJBA Show!
You have a choice when you to go to a feed store, but where do you start? There are a lot of choices for most species and classes of animals and the choice can be daunting.
First thing to think about is looking at the feed tag. There is a lot more information on the tag beyond just what the crude protein is and factoring in all that information can help you make your decision.
John has been involved with cattle for over 50 years, and he has been breeding Braunvieh since the mid 90’s. The switch to Braunvieh happened when John was doing research for the Gelbvieh Association. He was AI breeding cattle when he produced a calf that outweighed the other calves by 50lbs at weaning time. He later discovered the semen came from NorthStar Vernon, a Braunvieh bull. After that, he began using Braunvieh semen to AI all his cows. He says his favorite part about TBA is the kids. He loves watching them grow and become successful with their cattle. John says what he does is not a job, but a way of life. It has its successes, and it has its struggles, but he wouldn’t change a thing.
We are starting a new series of breeder appreciation posts. This month we would like to give a big shout out to David & Darcy Hall of Humpin H Ranch!
David has been working with cattle for 20 years. He started breeding Braunvieh 8 years ago in an effort to become more competitive and profitable. He found that Braunvieh is a great maternal cow, a docile breed, and he eventually evolved his herd to 100% registered Braunvieh. He has served on the TBA board for the last 6 years as treasurer, then the Vice President , and President as of last year. David says the most satisfying part of being a Braunvieh breeder is watching the breed gain in popularity.
